at St. Andrew's College

The Towers Library is named for Graham Towers, the first Governor of The Bank of Canada and a long-time member of the Board of Governors of the school. The Towers Library is at the heart of the educational experience of St. Andrew’s students. dcp00953.jpg (76020 bytes)

to inspire the love of reading, to encourage life long learning

and to help students  develop excellent library  and information skills.

The Towers Library has been recently magnificently restored and refurbished to further enhance the central role it plays in providing students with the opportunities to develop excellent research and study skills. Its beautiful architectural space and wonderful collection  foster the sense of the importance of the academic traditions of the past. The library’s state of the art computer and on-line resources and the assistance of the library staff and faculty, provide students with access to many sources of information vital for their continuing success into the future.        

 The Librarian: Mr. Stephen Treasure and the library technician: Mrs. Marie Pilieci  are available to assist faculty and students with research questions or to locate library materials. Our evening library supervisors are Ms. Karen Buckley and Mr. Mark Walker. Mr. Andrew Coates is the weekend supervisor. Mr. David Dawson is the school’s audio-video technician.

Facility and Resources

The Towers Library fully supports the school's wireless laptop environment.
Its OPAC  is web based and accessible from anywhere in the world.

Online web-based catalogue and library automation program (MANDARIN – M3) provide access to 17,000 holdings. The software is Z39.50 compliant and may be accessed through any web browser. (Access the Catalogue) Circulation is automated; transactions are scanned and tracked using the M3 software. Receipt printers output patron transactions.

is located on the lower level of the library.


JACKDAWS

Each jackdaw folder contains materials and facsimiles of
primary source documents in  kit form. These are excellent resources for projects. Located in the filing cabinet on the library's lower level.
