This is Mrs.
Elliott's sixth year here at St. Andrew's College. What she
likes most about SAC are the motivated students and dynamic
staff. Ms. Elliott teaches French and Geography in the
Middle School.
Ms. Elliott studied
Criminal Justice and Public Policy with a double minor in
French and Sociology at The University of Guelph. While she
was studying at Guelph, she was a member of the Ultimate
Frisbee team. She completed her Bachelor of Education at
York University with a specialization in French and Urban
Diversity. She also holds a Specialist in teaching French
as a Second Language. She has studied French most of her
life, and her passion for the language stems from her
travels to Quebec and France. Over the past few years she
has volunteered at a school in Québec,
and studied at a Language School in Trois Pistoles, Québec.
She enjoys sharing her passion for the French language and
culture with her students through field trips, including
cultural exchanges and trips. In 2008, she took a group
of Middle School students to France for an 8 day
cultural excursion. Every January, she takes Grade 8
students to Montreal for a week-long
exchange. Her enthusiasm for Geography has developed
through her travels through Europe, North America, and
Central America. She looks forward to passing along her
passion for Languages and Geography to her students in the
classroom.
Once again, Ms.
Elliott will coach U14 volleyball and Alpine Skiing. She is
excited to continue her work with the Environmental Club to implement
environmental initiatives in the Middle School and around
SAC. She will also assist Mr. Richardson during Tuesday
arts as an alto saxophone and trumpet player, and facilitate the Beyond
the Gates outdoor education program.
She loves teaching
because every day is different and she finds the energy and
humour from the students contagious. There is nothing like
helping a student conquer a challenge and gain more
confidence! |
