The SigDig & Calculation test was divided into 2 parts. Part 1 was
worth 12 marks and is an SCH3U evaluation. Part 2, the calculation
part, was worth 3 marks and is part of the AP assessment. This is a
Mastery Learning item and so you will allowed to try another
question if you provide evidence (on paper) that you have completed
Q34 p.32. Those who wish top take advantage of this must come -
with the completed question - Wednesday October 14 at break in M31.
OK, Monday at break is the last opportunity for this.

Clarification: Systems in nature want to change in a way which
lowers their potential energy. The fact that the most negative value
of E for the electron in a H atom corresponds to when the electron
is in the first level (n=1) is consistent with this idea. The energy
of the electron increases (becomes less negative as it approaches
n=∞). The fact that energy
from the SURROUNDINGS is required to raise the electron
(ENDOTHERMIC) and energy is released from the SYSTEM when the
electron falls to a lower level (EXOTHERMIC) is consistent with the
negative sign in the calculation of ΔE = Ef-Ei
