6) Create a Microsoft Word Document titled 'Story of Stuff' and in 2 pages, double-spaced, consider the following points:

  • Annie says "you can't run a linear system on a finite planet indefinitely".  In other words, you can't have unlimited economic growth with limited resources.  Research has shown that we are running out of resources in many parts of the World, and changes are needed in the way we conduct business to make sure that our economic system supports, rather than undermines, the planet's biological systems on which we depend.

  • Annie has described a new way of thinking that helps to address this problem - green chemistry, zero waste, closed loop production, green jobs, renewable energy, fair trade, and local living economies.

Answer the following questions:

  • If you owned your own business today, what types of things would you make sure your business did to ensure that you helped to protect the World's resources?  Explain how these activities would be helpful in sustaining our quality of life in the future.

  • Research and provide one full example of a company that is currently using an innovative method or procedure in their business to be 'sustainable' or 'environmentally friendly'.

  • Come up with one completely new 'Green-vention' (a new innovation) that you think could be implemented by your business in the future that will help solve one of the issues identified in the 'Story of Stuff' or 'Story of Bottled Water' videos
