General
Information
-
All cadets attending summer
camp courses must be medically fit and have completed Form CF 51 Application
and Approval Cadet Summer Activities. The CF 51 forms are available to
cadets from their Corps.

Candidates must also have parental
or guardian consent to attend and be recommended by his/her Commanding
Officer. The cadet must also meet any other conditions peculiar to
the course for which application is made, and in all cases, must be interested
in and have an aptitude for further army cadet training.

All applicants for six-week
courses and exchanges are recommended by their Area Office and selected
by Central Region Cadet Staff.

Cadets will receive $60.00
per completed week of training.
NOTE: The following list
of courses, experiences or exchanges are subject to change and modification
at any time. Information on changes will be forwarded to Cadet Corps at
the earliest possible time.
Basic
Courses
Basic
Army Cadet (Blackdown ACSTC)
Aim:
To familiarize cadets with the Army Cadet summer training program and to
motivate cadets toward pursuing further Army Cadet training.
Three Basic Army Cadet courses,
each of ten days in length will be conducted at Blackdown Army Cadet Summer
Training Centre (BACSTC) in 2000. These courses commence 10 July, 24 July,
and 7 August and each course has anticipated vacancies for 288 Cadets.
Training includes introduction to First Aid, drill, physical and recreational
Training, bushcraft, watermanship, canoeing, swimming, internet introduction,
marksmanship and sports.
Cadets who have completed
Green Star Training will be given preference to attend Basic Cadet.

Basic
Army Cadet – Marksman (Blackdown ACSTC)
Aim:
To familiarize cadets with the Army Cadet summer training programme; to
motivate cadets toward pursuing further Army Cadet training and to further
the cadet's interest in marksmanship.
Length: 3 weeks.

Depending on performance, cadets
may be offered a position on the Cadet Leader marksman Course to be conducted

Basic
Army Cadet – Band (Blackdown ACSTC)
Aim: To familiarize
cadets with the Army Cadet summer training program; to motivate cadets
toward pursuing further Army Cadet training and to develop an interest
for the band program.
Length: 3 weeks
Cadets who Display an interest
in music training and have completed a green Star course shall be given
preference

in cadets for the Pipes & Drums program.
Length: 3 weeks

Aim:
To teach the knowledge and skills required of a section commander and to
provide course cadets with opportunities to develop their leadership skills
and style.

Cadet Leader – Marksman (Connaught ACNSTC)
Aim: To teach the
knowledge and skills required of an NCO, provide course cadets with opportunities
to develop their leadership skills and styles and to supplement corps marksmanship
training by enhancing marksmanship skills in order to achieve a performance
level which permits participation in national level competitions.
Length: 6 weeks

Aim: To teach the
knowledge and skills required of a section commander, to provide cadets
with an opportunity to develop their leadership skills and style and to
train cadets as musician capable to play in a unit band.

and to provide the practice necessary to develop leadership abilities.
In addition, the cadet will receive instruction in an army cadet specialty
such as military drill and ceremonial practices.

their instructional skills.

Aim: To offer cadets
hands on outdoor experience. To teach knowledge and skills required to
participate in an Adventure Expedition. To provide cadets with an opportunity
to develop their leadership skills in an outdoors adventure environment.

that chosen cadets are physically fit to the required standards. Cadets
will undertake an individual fitness programme of at least six weeks duration
