About Your Uniform

Being Issued With Your Uniform

Each cadet will be issued a uniform unless specifically instructed otherwise. It is your responsibility to ensure that you report to the Quartermaster's Stores to be fitted and issued the pieces of your uniform.

It is also your responsibility to return your uniform in good condition at one of the times designated for this after the Annual Inspection. Cadets who are late in returning their uniforms will be assessed a late charge. Cadets who do not return any part of the uniform that they were issued will be charged the replacement cost.

Cadets will be issued with the following:

  • Scarlet Tunic with brass buttons and a pair of silver Corps collar badges.
  • Kilt of the Modern Gordon Tartan with a kilt pin.
  • A regular leather sporran.
  • Glengarry Head-dress with silver St. Andrew's College Cadet Corps cap badge and red, white and black dicing.
  • White belt with two brass keepers and a brass coloured buckle.
  • A pair of diced  hose tops.
  • A pair of plain red garter taps.
  • A pair of white spats with white buttons.
Lance Corporals and Corporals will be issued with the following:
  • All the uniform issued to a cadet (listed above).
  • Appropriate rank insignia sewn on the upper right sleeve.
Master Corporals will be issued the following:
  • All the uniform issued to a cadet (listed above).
  • Appropriate rank insignia sewn on the upper right sleeve.
  • A small style non-commissioned officer's tartan fly.
Sergeants and Warrants, Master Warrants and Chief Warrants officers will be issued with the following:
  • All the uniform issued to a cadet (listed above) except a senior NCO's black-haired sporran with white tassels in place of a regular sporran.
  • Appropriate rank insignia sewn on the upper right sleeve for sergeants, and the lower right sleeve for WO's, MWO's & CWO's.
  • A larger style non-commissioned officer's tartan fly.
  • A red sash.

Cadet Officers will be issued with the following:

  • Officers forming up to fall in at the Annual InspectionOfficer's style scarlet tunic with brass buttons and a pair of silver Corps collar badges.
  • Kilt of the Modern Gordon Tartan with a kilt pin.
  • An officer's white haired hair sporran with two black tassels.
  • Glengarry Head-dress with silver St. Andrew's College Cadet Corps cap badge (with a red patch behind the cap badge) and red, white and black dicing.
  • White cross belt with sword sling.
  • White belt.
  • White lanyard.
  • A pair of diced  hose tops.
  • A pair of officer's style (with loop) red garter taps.
  • A pair of white spats with white buttons.
  • A pair of white gloves.
  • A sword.
Pipers 
  • Scarlet Tunic with brass buttons and a pair of silver Corps collar badges.
  • Kilt of the Modern Gordon Tartan with a kilt pin.
  • White hair sporran with two black tassels.
  • Glengarry Head-dress with silver St. Andrew's College Cadet Corps cap badge and no dicing.
  • Feather bonnet with hackle.
  • White belt with two brass keepers and a brass coloured buckle.
  • Black leather cross-belts.
  • A pair of diced  hose tops.
  • A pair of plain red garter taps.
  • A pair of white spats with black buttons.
  • Full plaid and broach.
  • Drummer badge.
  • Appropriate rank insignia if required.
Pipers with the rank of Sgt and up will be issued a red sash.

The Pipe Major will be issued with the Pipe Major insignia.

Drummers 

  • Scarlet Tunic with brass buttons and a pair of silver Corps collar badges.
  • Kilt of the Modern Gordon Tartan with a kilt pin.
  • A regular leather sporran.
  • Glengarry Head-dress with silver St. Andrew's College Cadet Corps cap badge and no dicing.
  • White belt with two brass keepers and a brass coloured buckle.
  • A pair of diced  hose tops.
  • A pair of plain red garter taps.
  • A pair of white spats with black buttons.
  • Full plaid and broach.
  • Drummer badge.
  • Appropriate rank insignia if applicable.
Drummers with the rank of Sgt and up will be issued with a red sash.

The Drum-Major will be issued with the Drum-Major insignia and the Drum Major's Sash.

Members of the Cadet Brass and Reed  Band will be issued with the following:

  • Kilt with kilt pin.
  • Regular leather sporran.
  • Glengarry Head-dress with silver St. Andrew's College Cadet Corps cap badge and red, white and black dicing.
  • A pair of plain garter tabs.
Bandsman will wear white shirt, school tie, navy school blazer, green knee socks (available from the athletic store) and black shoes with the above.
