Lieutenant G. A. Ponsford

Lieutenant George Alfred Ponsford was the son of Erle George and Lila Ponsford, of St. Thomas, Ontario, and husband of Grace J. Lawson, of St. Thomas. He attended St. Andrew's College from 1929 to 1932 and later received a B.A. from the University of Western Ontario before becoming a lawyer.

Beny-Sur-Mer CemeteryHe was serving with the Essex Scottish Regiment of the Royal Canadian Infantry Corps when he was killed near Caen, France on July 13, 1944 at age of 31.

He is buried in Beny-Sur-Mer Canadian War Cemetery, France (Grave Reference: IX. H. 9.) There are a total of 2048 burials in Beny-sur-Mer Canadian War Cemetery.
