Colonel Bruce B. King
Lieutenant Colonel Bruce Barnes King attended St. Andrew's College for over 10 years from 1911 to 1921. He was a Prefect and involved in almost all aspects of school life. After graduation from the University of Toronto in 1926, he became a Bond Salesman for Collins King & Co. until the company dissolved at the outbreak of war in 1939.
Bruce sailed for England
with the 48th Highlanders that December and would not return until
1945 as a Lieutenant-Colonel having served with the regiment and as General
Staff Officer I
(Training), General Staff Branch.
After the war he was a founding member of the Investment Council of Canada and also served on the school’s Board of Governors.
He died of Lou Gehrig’s Disease on 18 March 1990. He was the father of Tony ’52.
