Tombstone of Lieutenant Colonel R.W. ArmstrongRobert White Armstrong attended St. Andrew's College from 1922 to 1927 where he was a Prefect.

He later graduated from Royal Military College and Osgoode Hall. LCol Armstrong served as an Aide-de-Camp to the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario.

He was the father of David Armstrong (SAC '60), grandfather of Michael Armstrong (SAC '90) and uncle of St. Andrew's College Chairman of the Board, Brian Armstrong (SAC '60).

He served in the Royal Canadian Artillery. He died of wounds, August 20,1944 at the age of 34, while serving in Italy. He is buried in Ancona War Cemetery, Italy (Grave Reference: I. A. 19.)
