William E. Balfour was born January 14, 1896 and attended St. Andrew's College from 1912 to 1914.
After leaving SAC, he enlisted in the Army, joining the 77th battery in Regina in 1916 and later served in France as a Gunner with the 45th and 46th batteries. He was also a participant in the attack on Vimy Ridge.
After he was discharged he studied agriculture at the University of Saskatchewan, but left before graduating to manage his father's farm.
He died on April 17, 1987 at the age of 91.
