Major J. M. Macdonnell, MC, CdG(F) 
SAC Master 1904-1914

Major James MacKerras Macdonnell was born in Kingston, Ontario on December 15, 1884, son of George W. Macdonnell.

He was a Master at St. Andrew's College for ten years from 1904 to 1914 before becoming a trust company officer.

He enlisted at the age of 29 with the Canadian Expeditionary Force on September 24, 1914 at Valcartier, Quebec.  At that time he indicated 2 years of militia service with the 9th Battery of the Canadian Field Artillery and he served with the 16th Battery, 6th Brigade.
