Major Hugh K. Hamilton, Jr. attended St. Andrew's College from 1937 to 1940 and in his final year served as Cadet Commanding Officer.

He served with the Royal Canadian Air Force during the war and later joined the United States Army. During the course of his 35-year career he was posted overseas to Germany and Korea before retiring, with the rank of Major, to Florida where he died 26 May 2000.

His father, Charles Donald Hamilton (SAC 1907-1912), was awarded the Military Medal during WW1 and also served in WWII. He was also the brother of Donald 42.
