Roy H. M. Lowndes
Major Roy Howland Montgomery Lowndes was born in Toronto March 25, 1895 and attended St. Andrew's College from 1906 to 1912 where he proved to be a champion fencer and swimmer.
He was a clerk prior to August 4, 1915 when he enlisted at age 20, in the Army Service Corps, Canadian Expeditionary Force. He was already a Lieutenant and had served in the Canadian Army Service Corps. He then served overseas with the Canadian Army Service Corps and Divisional Train and by war’s end he had attained the rank of Captain.
In 1939 he joined the militia, later serving on active duty from 1942 to 1945.
After the war he became very involved in the school and designed the Old Boys’ tie and crest. He died in Toronto on 25 November 1990.
