D. B. Carlyle
Born in Toronto on 9 July 1895, Lieutenant David Brainerd Carlyle attended St. Andrew’s College from 1908 to 1912 before moving on to the University of Toronto to study medicine.
While at U of T he joined the Canadian Officer Training Corps and gained a commission, which he credited to his training at St. Andrew’s. He joined the 95th Battalion on 20 November 1915 and proceeded overseas. On 23 November 1916 he transferred to the 4th battalion with which he participated in the attack on Vimy Ridge. On his demobilization he was living 309 Golf St, Oshawa.
Afterwards he worked in the piano business eventually becoming president of the Canadian Piano Manufacturers Association.
He died 22 January 1992.
