Commander J. A. Bennet
SAC Bursar 1952-1980
John "Jack "Archibald Bennet graduated from the University of Toronto in 1932 with a Bachelor of Commerce and played both varsity football and hockey. He served as a Lieutenant Commander with the Royal Navy from 1940-1945.
Jack joined the staff of St. Andrew's as Bursar in 1952 and was a key member of the administration for 28 years. He retained a keen interest in SAC following his retirement and attended many games and reunions. His first wife Ina Rennie was the long-time Headmaster's secretary.
He died on August 23, 1996 in Orillia, Ontario at the age of 85. A memorial service was held at St. Andrew's at which The Honourable Robert Meagher acted as Officiant.
